Glock 19x With Extended Clip - UNITED STATES OF AMERICA –-()- In the first part of this series, we took the standard 9mm Glock and prepared it specifically for home defense. For part two, we'll start with something a little more modern and spend extra to turn it up to eleven.
Before we dive into the details of all the components, we need to quickly review the upgrade instructions in the first part. The four main principles of improving home defense/self defense are as follows
Glock 19x With Extended Clip
Tactical light, quality ammo, night sights and two extra rounds of ammo. A gun that can do almost anything.
Milspin +5 Capacity Magazine Extension (all Black, Non Customized)
In the previous article, we added several components that improved the performance of the weapon without disadvantages. From these previous updates we will only keep the Hornady 135gr FlexLock, extended Glock OEM magazine and slide lock. Also, unlike the last piece where we built our Gen 3 Glock 17 gun, this time we're using a Gen 5 Glock 19x.
While factory Glock barrels are fantastic, shooters looking to use muzzleloaders should check out Lone Wolf's offerings.
I have used the Alpha Wolf barrel on several different 9mm Glocks over the years and have always been pleased with their performance. The combination of solid accuracy, affordable price, and excellent reliability have made these barrels my go-to for suppression operations.
This is mainly due to the grooving on the outside of the barrel. These parallel relief cuts allow more carbon to accumulate before affecting the function of the weapon. And when a shooter uses their pistol suppressed, carbon grows exponentially faster. That's because hotter gases are trapped inside the action when the suppressor delays their release.

Another advantage of the AlphaWolf barrel is that it is designed to run lead cartridges for less expensive practice. Although based on the relatively low cost of the 9mm FMJ, this is a relatively minor problem. It also offers some extra length, which results in some added speed and reduced felt recoil.
Additional features include a stripped thread guard covering standard 1/2x28 inch muzzle threads. More information can be found here.
After recommending the AlphaWolf barrel, I'm sure many of you have seen this addition. I'm actually a big fan of sound suppressors. Especially in a potential home defense scenario. While many fear that if their case goes to trial, the prosecution might paint you as some kind of premeditated killer, a little common sense can go a long way.
For example, the two biggest reasons to operate a suppressor for home defense are specifically to preserve life, not take it. The first must preserve the hearing of the shooter so they can more easily hear the commands of the arriving officer if they had to shoot the intruder. That, and if there are more attackers, the homeowner won't be surprised because his hearing is completely destroyed after they blow up the bike in the house.

The second reason is to preserve the hearing of your loved ones. Many families have an emergency plan for what to do in case of a natural disaster. Some also have a game plan in case the house alarm goes off in the middle of the night. Most involve gathering every family member in a central location, usually the master bedroom, and waiting for the police to arrive.
But what happens when the initial break-in occurs in this central location. Assuming the homeowner has to use his weapon to defend himself, he may now be night blind and temporarily deaf. Combine that with a huge amount of adrenaline and panicked kids running into your room and it could be a disaster waiting to happen.
But with a quality sound attenuator like the Osprey, homeowners can preserve their hearing and keep their sanity. Plus, if they want to use other guns or calibers, the .45 can be used for countless different cartridges. Heck, with a solid piston, the Osprey 45 can even safely shoot a subsonic .300blk from a carbine. The only downsides to using a suppressor are the wait to buy, the cost and how it blocks your iron sights. But we'll take care of that last one. For more information, visit www.SilencerCo.com
The Night Fision Glow Dome Suppressor sights are incredibly bright during the day and stand out over the Osprey 45.
Glock 19x Pistol G5 W/3 Mags & Nights Sight
I've personally run dozens of different lighted iron sights in my life, but these new Night Fission Glow Dome sights are in a league of their own. Available for dozens of different firearms, these new sights combine the ultra-bright daytime glow of fiber optics with the relatively dim phosphorescent glow of tritium sights at night.
They achieve this by encapsulating the tritium vial inside the sights with a massive fiber optic donut. Both are then topped off with a slightly enlarged translucent dome that spreads their glow evenly across the front sight. This means the scope is blindingly bright in daylight, yet still dim enough to use at night.
In practice, this means that even if the shooter is running over a bright tactical light, the iron sights will still shine properly. Ensuring shooters can always get the right image regardless of lighting conditions.
Even better, the model installed on our Glock 19X is their new suppressor elevation sights. As the name suggests, they allow the shooter to get the right picture even with an oversized suppressor installed, such as the Osprey 45 supplied by SilencerShop. Another Streamlight?! Yes. I'm really digging the new TLR-8 Flex models. The combination of solid transmitter performance and ergonomic modularity is very hard to beat at this price. For those of you who didn't check out the first part of this series, the TLR-8AG Flex is a 500 Lumen Tactical Weapon Mounted Light.
The listed light shines for 90 minutes on one CR123 battery and has an integrated laser sight module. This laser can be zeroed for both windage and elevation with the included Allen key and will run continuously for 60 hours on a single CR123 battery.
These tac lights are identical in performance to the previous models. They are distinguished from the older TLR-8 lights by the inclusion of new terminals. Consisting of two ambidextrous end switches, these high and low options allow shooters with hands and any shooting style to reach the light.
The TLR-7 and TLR-8 series of tactical lights do not hinder the Osprey 45 like the previous TLR-1 and TLR-2 models.
These Are The Top 3 Magazines You Could Ever Want For Your Glock
The "G" model suggested here is slightly more expensive than the usual because it has a bright green laser sight instead of a red one. This makes the laser much more visible in broad daylight or under the intense beam of a strong tactical light.
One last thing: these lights are not as expensive as they seem. Despite being durable, powerful and incredibly useful, they are affordable. At least their street prices are. The MSRP of all StreamLight tray lights tends to be much higher than retail prices. So before you buy it at full retail, make a small purchase and you can save a lot of money. In our previous article, I recommend that shooters stick to OEM magazines and OEM base plate extensions. This is still very solid advice; most extended stacks are not very reliable. One very notable exception is those made by KRISS USA.
KRISS, the inventors of the KRISS Vector submachine gun, invented special magazines to handle the super high rate of fire of their SMG. In fact, I have personally had the opportunity to run several of these magazines through their selectable vectors at 1,200 rounds per minute.
Glock Gen4/5 Extended Magazine Release
And I can confirm from my experience that they are absolutely reliable. So what does this have to do with our home defense Glock? The Vector uses extended Glock pattern magazines. So, these rebuilt higher capacity submachine gun magazines not only fit Glock pistols, they also perform fantastically.
The reason I chose the new version of the Ex2 9mm is because it pushes the envelope even more than before. While the original 9mm Vectors simply used 33-round Glock 18 magazines, the new Ex2 magazines are heavier and hold an additional 7 rounds. It allows the shooter to store 40 rounds in one magazine. If the shooter then buys an additional magazine to keep by the bed, they will have a whopping 80 rounds of defensive ammunition by the bed. After all, the easiest way not to screw up a recharge is to not have to do it. For more information visit https://kriss-usa.com/
Our polymer-framed pistol is now a 40-shot, suppressed beast ready to defend the shooter and loved ones from any attacker. Sure, it might look a little ridiculous due to the sheer size of the magazine or suppressor, but form follows function.
A few notable aspects missing from this build are the aftermarket optics and exhaust. The optics are simple. Personally, I feel they are too weak and reduce speed when engaging targets. Some people swear by them, and if so
